You Enter a Room is a love letter to the power of literature, wrapped up in a compelling mystery. Vena, the main character, is a lovable protagonist, and you can see why she gets so wrapped up in the mystery, even though she is just a grad student and has no criminal justice experience. Her love of the truth, her deep ability to connect with others through their words and ideas, and her vibrant imagination help her to see clearly. You can understand her dedication, and why she is willing to make sacrifices, to find the truth. The grad school scenes also help to inform the reader's understanding of how the mystery unfolds, as well as providing a window into the minds of all they key players. I adored this book, and I'm glad that there will be a sequel, because I can't wait to go on another adventure with Vena!
