I love this series and this book was great. It’s been a while but the writing is superb, Uthred is always witty and clever, and I just love how all the battle scenes are written. Such clever tactics and the pacing is fantastic. It’s a historical novel about the Anglo Saxons and Viking invasions of Britain so at times quite heavy and lots of uncomfortable themes, but if you love that period of history it is by far the best series to read.
