Hola, queridos lectores. No hay mejor manera de iniciar noviembre que con una reseña literaria.-En esta ocasión, les hablaré de nada más y nada menos que Lore, un libro que vi circular por redes sociales desde hace semanas, así que me tomé la libertad de darle una oportunidad al libro y traerles mi opinión.
Lore cuando la historia de Mallora, la joven heredera de la Casa Perseus, quien vive atormentada por su trágico pasado, marcado por la muerte de toda su estirpe a mano de enemigos. Lore lleva una vida en el exilio, oculta de aquellos que le hicieron la vida una pesadilla y la relegaron a vivir en las sombras.
Todo cambia cuando aparece la diosa Atenea ante ella y le propone una peligrosa misión: ayudarla a vencer a sus enemigos y al mismo tiempo le ofrece a Lore la oportunidad de vengar a su familia de los enemigos que destruyeron su legado y quienes solo buscan el poder divino gracias al agón, un evento que ocurre cada siete años en donde los dioses reencarnados buscan el poder.
Sin embargo, no será un camino fácil, Lore tendrá que enfrentarse a los enemigos que quieren su muerte durante el agón al verla como una amenaza. Aunque Lore no estará sola: contará con el apoyo de sus fieles amigos, quienes la guiarán en esta travesía.
Lore es una historia lenta, que con el paso de las páginas va desenvolviendo una trama aún más oscura de lo que parece a simple vista. Es una historia intrigante, que me atrajo tanto por su portada como por su premisa, sin embargo, presentó a lo largo del libro detalles que no me permitieron disfrutarla al cien.
Mi principal problema con el libro fue la historia. Si bien la novela destaca por sí misma a nivel general, la encontré demasiado parecida con otras historias que he leído previamente, en especial con la novela gráfica The Wicked + The Divine. Ambas comparten una trama bastante similar: dioses que reencarnan en la tierra, son cazados y/o buscan ser amados por todos.
El personaje principal, Lore, me gustó peor no logró encantarme. Me resultó un personaje complicado con quien relacionarme o tener empatía, sobre todo por su personalidad, la cual me resultó algo tosca y agresiva.

I was slumping pretty hard when I decided to pick this up. I really needed some Greek mythology, and this did not disappoint. I loved the characters, and the concept was amazing. It was pretty fast paced for being about 500 pages. I loved it☺️.

Fue un libro con el que me costó entender muchas cosas ya que tenía demasiados nombres. Al final me vine a enterar que en las últimas páginas había una guía de todas las casas y personajes

This was an interesting take on Greek mythology. Unfortunately for me, I’m not really into Greek mythology so this was a miss. The twists were fine; they were interesting and not anything I would have guessed. I liked the story well enough, but I won’t remember it in several months time, and it’s not one I’d think to revisit.
1.5 stars.

I've had a few lacklustre books this year, but this one somehow felt like more of a slog. Maybe because it was so long, and because I was so unbelievably lost for most of it.
About that - I think Alexandra Bracken really overcomplicated what could have otherwise been a punchy and engaging idea. But there was too much going on. I don't know if Bracken just gave the average reader too much credit in terms of how much we know about Greek mythology, but having to get to grips with all of that and all the other fictional thinkings Bracken wanted to throw in was too big for my lil brain to handle, frankly. There is even a long scene where the gist gets laid out to a clueless character, and I still couldn't follow.
So I tried my best to follow along blindly, but I'd be lying if I said it didn't severely impact how much I cared about the story. It didn't help that I think a bunch of information was deliberately withheld from readers for too long just for the sake of twists and surprises later in the novel.
And then the characters...? I didn't care about them either, and I couldn't tell you much about any of them except Lore herself.
Smidge of appreciation for some hints of nice romance, and a nice use of setting.
