Amazing. While this didn't have the action that the others did, this one had emotional turmoil and I love it. I do feel sorry for the people who got hurt at the end, but I think it will be for the best.

Fifth in the Georgina Kincaid urban fantasy series revolving around a succubus who has fallen in love with her favorite author.

The Story
Some things are working out for Georgina. Her condo is great even if her roommate is a bit of a pain. It's even more of a pain when she learns how he really feels about her…it was so much easier when he simply wanted to kill her. But all the excitement about Seth and Maddie's wedding, a visiting succubus who seems to have it in for Seth, her discovery that still another old boyfriend still loves her sends Georgina spiraling into depression leaving her wide open for this particular kind of kidnapping.

And her kidnappers take the opportunity to torture her with real events from her past and present as well as distorting events. So much, so often that Georgina can no longer tell real from false as her mind veers from hope to despair.

The Characters
Almost everyone from earlier stories shows up here, each with their part to play. Each with their own revelation regarding Georgina. True or false, it's up to the Oneroi as to how most of it plays out.

My Take
Ooh, boy! A lot of resolution occurring in Succubus Shadows. Break-ups, discoveries, revelations, and death. It's so bittersweet with the hopes and disappointments and, in one case, so incredibly sad. A sadness, however, that proves a lightening for one of our primary characters. Erik however provides us with a bit of hope at the end. A hope that perhaps the dream Nyx had shown Georgina really might have a chance of coming true. I wonder if it's why Carter has been so involved…

The Cover
The cover is very Georgina with her red-violet dress and the form-fitting, very feminine black leather jacket done half-way up corset-style. A very misty Seattle forms the background with a huge moon framing Georgina's head. The title, Succubus Shadows is truly appropriate for the dreams Georgina experiences are dark shadows on her psyche.

Darker than previous books, Georgina is sucked into her worst nightmares. Her friends try to find her, some surprise her with their feelings, but she has disappeared. This is pure torture for her and those who care for her. She has dreadful event after dreadful event threatening to break her.Roman, Seth, Maggie, Jerome, Carter, Erik, Cody, Peter and Hugh the ole gang is still their with some new characters thrown into the mix, nasty ones. There was not enough Carter for me, I like him. Perhaps the next book. This one ending with us semi-hanging on a cliff...What will happen ??? So the series continues, YES !

The reason I'm really enjoying these books is just because Richelle Mead does a great job of creating a world and filling it with fun and interesting characters. I'm admittedly not surprised at some of the events in this book. Or like all of them. I'm just honestly sort of annoyed at Maddie's whole character. I thought she would be fun but as soon as she and Seth got engaged, it just got stupid because that's all she cared about. Maddie isn't a character on her own, she's either Georgina's friend or Seth's sort gf/fiance. I'm looking forward to seeing how this ends though.

Okay, so I have finally finished this book. Yes, out of all books in this series, this one took me the longest. Normally, I finish these books without even putting them down. I do blame the fact that its summer and between summer activities, work and holidays, I wasn't really there for the book as much as I wanted to be.

This book wasn't my favorite, but I still adored it. I felt like most of it was a filler, but I do know that a whole bunch of the history that we learned with Georgina and her past lives make a huge impact for the next novel.

I have never felt such amazing love between two characters like these two, in such a long time. Georgina and Seth honestly make my heart melt. Everything about them makes my insides feel like a googey fresh baked cookie. Sweet and delicious!

Roman is growing on me immensely. Yeah he may not be the best in attitude when it comes to others, but his intentions are so....honest. I would give anything to be able to have a friend like him.

The ending is what really pushed me to give this book 4 stars instead of 3. I have goosebumps and emotions probably just as strong as Georgie.

Lets jump into this finale with bells on! (although I hate for it to be over)

Stayed up way to late to finish this, and now my head is killing me. While this was not my favorite book in the series, I loved it. The ending was a surprise...not sure if I like it or not. Have to see how it all ends in the next one.

So much less involving than the other books. This book of the series veered off the path for me; The main 'event' wasn't enough to carry the book. There was no hook until the final pages when a new mystery was introduced. ”
