This was really sweet! The time it took me to read it had no bearing on the contents of the story, I very much enjoyed it. This was everything you would expect in a Regency-era story, but still had just the right amount of tension between Malcolm and Selina and the perfect amount of heat in their kisses and flirtation while still keeping it totally PG. I had a great time with this book and will definitely be looking into both the movie and this author’s other stories!

this reads like a sloppily written young adult novel more than anything else. it felt like there was no introduction or background to ease you into it at the beginning and the pace was entirely too fast the entire time. it never feels like you actually get to see the characters thinking through their actions or emotions and instead they just gloss over them quickly and move on to the next scene. julia is a cruel person who everyone forgives too readily. the plot had potential to be a great little romantic, lighthearted period piece but the execution fell far short.

I didn't think I'd like this but I picked it up and ended up finishing it in a day. A cute, quick, lighthearted read but I felt that there wasn't enough time for any real character development.

easy, quick and enjoyable read! bought it today and read in one afternoon; it was fun enough to keep me reading, but it feels very forgettable… meaning that in a couple of days i’ll probably forget all about it
