Come on, Jasmine! Wait until the last minute to find your gumption?! I wanted her to step up so badly, the entire time. It was frustrating!
Jafar was a decent character. I wanted more back story, but I liked his arc during the story. I didn’t get Ali, Hades, Meg, or Tink. We had little to no explanation of where they came from or what was happening for them. I think I could like Tink and maybe Meg, but they didn’t make sense as they were.
And as per usual… the “innocent maiden” going from 0-60 in act one just

You know how sometimes you have a couple drinks and wander past the Buy One Get One 50% Off table and take a leap of faith? Saw this and couldn't pass it up. And also... Katee Robert, I caught every little Disney movie easter egg in this whole thing, pal!
This was fun, but much like Katee Robert's other contemp/myth combos, it just didn't quite get where I wanted it to go. There's so much promise with the power dynamic between them, the CNC they both enjoy, and Hades' club, but it doesn't quite reach the promised land, so to speak. I also didn't love all the "Daddy/baby girl" in this because it doesn't fit my idea of a Jafar/"Yasmina" pairing at all, but you do you. But for her being a brat, how was thereno spanking?? Unless it was a blink and you miss it moment?!
Oh, and IDK if this is all the reprints of this, or just the B&N version, but the annotations were annoying. They were kind of redundant or self-glorifying 80% of the time. Could have done without.
Debating keeping this around, or bringing it to the romance bookswap on Wednesday. It was just OK, and I doubt I'll revisit it. But hey, finally a diverse reads tag for May 2025, since Katee Robert is a queer author and both MCs had queer inklings.
