This was FUN!

Desperate Measures was a cover buy, but I've also always been very drawn to the concept of Jafar getting Jasmine, and this did not disappoint! This book has a lot of elements I'm still very new to reading, but it's one of my goals to read more books outside of my comfort zone, so it worked for me. I will say that the plot is kind of threadbare, but honey I did NOT pick this up for the plot.

Jafar was surprisingly gentle and soft for Jasmina, and Jasmina was surprisingly strong and resilient. I love how she came into her own on multiple levels and he eventually stopped beating his chest long enough to witness her transformation in a way that felt authentic and suitable to them. Having Ali be the villain was exciting because he was a lil sus in the movie and a huge liar sooooo yeah, checks out!

Daddy kink is not my kink so my eyes kind of glazed over whenever that got whipped out, but this was well-written enough for me to keep going! I love how queernormative and diverse this world is, and how the queer scenes are not written from a male pleasure standpoint. I'm excited to continue on with this series!

I liked this story without a doubt, and the spice was enjoyable. I didn’t enjoy the tertiary bad couple and how they kept getting mixed in with the main couple because I didn’t think they deserved it. Like...they were bad…no funsies if you’ve been bad. Overall, I like this book. If I didn’t own it I don’t know if I’d read it again, but since I do own it I will inevitably read it more than once.

Again, spice is everywhere lol 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️

The sex scene in the second chapter was rough, and not my cup of tea. It was definitely SA even though the characters brush it off. Made me uncomfortable. The audiobook production was really good though. It was a graphic audio style with duet narration and sound effects.

Such an awesome story!! Truly!
I love Yasmina’s strength of mind and unwillingness to simply survive!
This book was incredibly spicy but such a damn good story too!! That’s hard to find.

Jafar is a power hungry man who will stop at nothing to get what he wants. And Yasmina is the forbidden fruit that he finally gets to taste. And Yasmina wants Jafar too, but on her own terms

Gosh this story is so empowering!!
