I don't think I will ever not enjoy a book by Katee Roberts and when you add in a dark fairy tale retelling I am here for it.

I love that this is Jafar and Jasmine in a relationship instead of the whole romance with the good guy. I love a good villain romance story.

Whoa! I was taken off guard by how much I liked this book! I’m both happy and sad that I read this after reading Dark Olympus. Happy because I don’t think Dark Olympus would have hit as hard after reading Desperate Measures and sad because I didn’t read it sooner! I can’t wait to read the rest of the books in this series. I’m so intrigued by Carver City and all of the dynamics within it and I can’t wait to read all about Hades and Meg.
I really liked Yasmina and Jafar. I found their relationship believable and compelling. I do feel like they got close to the miscommunication trope, but it wasn’t quite that. And the miscommunication that there was was understandable and believable. I also loved the ending; it really felt like it was the only way that Yasmina could feel completely comfortable and not stifled in their relationship.
(I will make a note that there is definitely a plot to this book, but the sex scenes are about equally important, so if you don’t like smut, you won’t like this book.)

Thank you to Edelweiss and Sourcebooks Casablanca for the eARC.

I have read several Katee Robert books and I have loved their writing and character development in every single one of them. I loved the main characters in this story and it was so cool to see the footnotes and art throughout the book. I love the assumed queerness with most characters and the hotness at all sizes and diversity in all facets of her characters. I will continue to read all Katee Robert books that are published in the future. The spice as always was a 10 out of 10.

Thank you Net Galley for the ARC!
