I’m grateful for the ARC I received of Matched with Her Brother’s Best Friend by @britneymmillsauthor! I enjoyed this sweet story!

Millie is not happy when her brother suddenly announces his engagement and imminent wedding to Trina, her childhood bully. She really doesn’t want to head back and spend two weeks doing wedding activities with her crazy family who takes her for granted, but her dad bribes her to come. Spencer still deals with issues from having been a child star. Her brother help him settle into college and normal life and they’ve been best friends ever since. Spencer is heading to the wedding, too, as best man, and offers to drive across the country with her and provide emotional support.

Having grown up as oldest girl in a large family, I enjoyed a lot of the craziness of her family’s antics. It was so sweet to see Spencer stand up to her family when they don’t appreciate her, and help her be strong to stand up for herself. I also loved seeing her build a friendship with Trina, and how her family comes together when Trina’s family abandons her.

Definitely check out if you like road trips, family antics, camping, he falls first, first kisses, friends to lovers! These two were so cute together!

I loved this story! It was such a fun read and an adorable romance. I’ve enjoyed the whole series but I think this one might be my favourite. When Millie’s brother went back to their hometown, Millie found herself increasingly spending time with his best friend Spencer. “Millie is like a psuedo-sister and, for some reason, I want to take care of her.” Their friendship developed quickly, but when they ended up road tripping together to attend the short notice nuptials of Millie’s brother to her “arch nemesis from high school”, and spending time together throughout the dreaded family and wedding activities, they both had to confront the reality that their feelings might extend beyond friendship. “I’ve revealed way too much of myself on this trip, and I don’t know if I can close Pandora’s box now.” Millie also had to deal with her role in her family and her dissatisfaction with it. “‘Well, if you’ve toed the line for your entire life, it’s probably scary to go against what people think of you or what they perceive your worth is.’” And Spencer had his own fears too. “Everyone leaves my life at some point. Maybe I’m the problem.” The characters are wonderful. I loved Millie and Spencer. There are also so many fun secondary characters and lot of baggage between them. Millie’s family was very entertaining. The romance was so sweet and cute. It was great. The ending was sweet. This book is part of a series about a female group of roommates and a male group of friends and the matchmaking app that they all eventually use. There is carryover from the other books in the series but this book reads very well as a standalone. This is a sweet and clean romance with mild innuendo and no harsh language.

 Reader’s Notes:

– this is part of a series, but can be read as a stand-alone

– this is told from Millie & Spencer’s points of view

– it is mentioned that a character was like a pseudo parent to their siblings & that they are taken for granted by their entire extended family (this gets positively changed over the course of the story)

– it is mentioned that a character’s parents had temporarily separated when they were young due to infidelity

Review:

This book definitely hit on my emotions and I loved it! Spencer is such a sweetheart and I loved that he wanted to take care of Millie both emotionally & financially, even before realizing he had deeper feelings for her. I loved that Millie wanted to make her own way & didn’t really want Spencer to spend money on her, but was grateful that he wanted to. I loved that Spencer noticed the issue Millie was having with her family and stood up for her. I also loved that he helped her to stand up for herself and talked her through the process/emotions that would come with doing so. The two of them were so great together with building each other up and caring for each other.

Summary:

Millie loves the freedom her life in Boston gives her, but when her brother announces that he’s getting married back home, her joy gets a bit diminished. Between her family assuming that she’ll take care of things while enjoying the festivities and discovering that Beau is planning on marrying none other than Millie’s high school bully, she isn’t planning on attending. That is until her family and Spencer convinces her to go. Spencer is Beau’s best friend & best man, but has become one of Millie’s friends since Beau went back. So when he offers to travel with her and be her date to it, Millie feels confident enough that she might be able to enjoy the wedding. What she didn’t expect was to fall for Spencer in the process…

Spencer finds himself thinking back to his past as a child actor when conflicting emotions attack upon discovering his best friend & business partner is getting married. And not necessarily planning on coming back. He wants to be happy for his best friend, but it still feels like a betrayal to be left behind just as they are getting started. But when Millie expresses her own discomfort about attending, Spencer finds himself wanting to protect her. As they open up to each other on the trip down and while attending various wedding activities, Spencer is discovering that he might like Millie as much more than just his best friend’s sister…

A sweet brothers best friend book, I loved watching the character growth in Millie as she learned to stick up to her parents and family and Spencer as he learned to believe he was worthy of long term love. This is a quick fun read, a stand alone book with fun cameos from previous characters in the series.
I received an ARC of this book, thanks! These are my personal honest thoughts.
