These works aren't necessarily easy to read. They are fun, though, especially if you enjoy Greek mythology! There's very little interaction with the gods like I had expected there to be, especially when in comparison with more modern re-tellings of Greek stories. It was a good introduction to Greek tragedy, even if I hadn't much expected it when I picked this book up on a whim at a used book store. We're reading Shakespeare in my English Literature class right now, and having started the Oedipus Cycle beforehand definitely made it easier for me to comprehend the format of plays.
Moderate: Suicide
Minor: Sexism, Violence, Misogyny, Incest, War, and Religious bigotry
The typical "girl-hate" of Ancient Greece is present, but it isn't a main plot point.
