Lacey is back in town to photograph her childhood BFF's wedding, she's supposed to meet her at the cockloft(bar) but when Nat has an emergency and can't make it she decides she needs a piece of the hot bartender instead.
Tucker lost someone he was trying to rescue 3 months ago and hasn't been with a woman since in spite of the fact that he's a player, a colleague bets him he can't get the new hottie into bed without telling her he's a firefighter. These 2 players collide for the hottest night either one has ever experienced and she vanishes in the morning and Tucker wishes he'd got her number.
The next day Lacey is talked into shooting the firefighter's calendar since their regular photographer cancelled and we get to watch the fun as she realizes what he does for a living and finds out about the bet and all the other fun things that follow.
Lacey is amazing but has trust issues and Tucker has self esteem issues and PTSD from the incident 3 months ago but is such a sweetheart. There is a lot of sweetness and angst in this story as well as a whole lot more steam in this story, panty melting levels!!! We also get to see the couples from the previous 2 books as well which just adds to the found family feelings that are a big part of this series.
TW: drug abuse, depression, recovery, PTSD

ARC Review from NetGalley: 4/5⭐️

Oh Tucker… The book follows Tucker and Lacey as they struggle to overcome the obstacles their past has created when it comes to falling in love.

This was a quick and easy romance read, that had just the right amount of smut to it. The book explained enough of the backstory of the main characters that the reader understood the journey they were on, and the obstacles they were overcoming. Great character development, with the safe and comfortable storyline.

4 stars rather that 5 because while it was a good read that I would recommend to someone looking for a good and easy romance read, I wouldn’t pick it up again and it’s an easily forgettable read.

oh my! I was not expecting this story to hit me in the feels so hard! It was so emotional I felt my heart breaking for both characters.

Tucker was supposed to be a player through and through but for me he was such a sweet guy. I wish he was real so I‘d have him for myself!

I did not agree with Lacey‘s thoughts sometimes but I kinda understood where she was coming from..

Playing with Fire absolutely played on all of my emotions! I've been waiting for the playboy, Tucker, to fall since the very first book and I am so thrilled that he found such an amazing partner. From their very first interaction, the chemistry between Lacey and Tucker is white hot! The intimate connection was immediately recognizable, and I just knew that there was no way these two would be able to stay apart. They both had a lot of baggage to work through, and concessions to make, but ultimately they were meant to be. The supporting cast of characters-the brotherhood of the fire department and their spouses-is one of the reasons I love this series so much. I really love the way they navigate the difficult moments in life—from dysfunctional families, to mental health or drug issues, to grief and loss. Every instance, while gut wrenching, is so emotionally authentic. A true testament to Skye Jordan's writing talents! Fans of these books will be thrilled to see Natalie, Cole, Isabel, and Logan are frequently on page and that they're still living and loving well. This whole firehouse family makes my heart happy and I'm desperately hoping we'll see more of these characters.

There is heart-pounding action from the get go, as Ms Jordan delivers the heat, emotion, angst and drama in this third instalment of the brilliant Forged in Fire series. That sees Tucker get his shot at true love, but boy is it a bumpy ride, as he falls for Natalie's childhood friend Lacey. Whose only staying around long enough to see Natalie wed and help her twin brother Caleb back on his feet. Yet, the connection between her and Tucker is undeniable, and the sparks ignite.

But family issues and a desire to never give up her hard earned career means she's determined not to stay. However, Tucker is unlike anyone she has ever met and proves that you don't have to sacrifice the things you love to get your happy ever after.

Would happily recommend.

I really enjoyed this book and the others that are in this series! It grabbed my attention right away! I found myself laughing through parts and getting all the feels in others! I loved Tucker and Lacy! They were just what each other needed! This is a true standalone in the series. While previous characters from the other books are mentioned it wont seem like you are missing something from the story. There was no long drawn out unnecessary drama that would make the story drag. I definitely recommend this book!!

Received a arc for a honest review.
