got me out of my reading slump, i was reading 70-80 pages everyday. LOVED the satire and the italics that emphasized the satire and ridiculousness even more, it felt like i could hear the characters.
…but the horror is super fucked up and gory to say the least in addition to awfully blatant racism and misogyny and anti-homelessness.
to close out, there’s some really funny lines that are just so great. feels like a masterpiece, i’m excited to dive deeper into its meanings if any and to watch the film

Most grueling reading experience of my LIFE… I got and sometimes even appreciated what Bret was trying to do here but I think the movie version and the shards do all of these things so much better…. how do we get Bret a job as a pitchfork critic so he stops terrorizing the public w his books

Not sure how the author managed to make an axe murderer the most tedious character I’ve ever read. But he did.
I get this is supposed to be satire but the amount of slurs and hateful rhetoric in this is gratuitous and at some point satire seems like a shield to say whatever you want
I have never had to put a book down to compose myself as many times as I did for this. And yet, I was skimming so much and skipping chapters. Interesting.

Mostly a dark, satirical character study on a narcissistic and violent allegory of Toxic masculinity. Full of gruesome and heinous crime, yet full of scenes that had me laughing hysterically at the stupidity. Overall it's brilliant and I think it's a great read but cam understand it's divisive nature.
Too many ITALICS! I don't even mind the no punctuation trend but I found this to be far too distracting. I wish Ellis trusted the audience to understand where the emphasis in a sentence should lie. Someone let me know if I just don't understand the point of this technique because I was really excited to read this one.
WOW.
I felt like I was getting manipulated by the main character while reading this book.
It is EXTREMELY well written. Although it was quite disturbing at times, it also had me giggling.
The only downside about this book is how graphic some chapters get. The author really goes into detail about EVERYTHING
