Intriguing - the MC is fun! She seems capable and interesting despite her disability and the ML is creepy but I think it’ll be fun to watch their relationship develop.

Satoko has it all - she's beautiful, she's a daddy's girl, she's a noblewoman, and she's trained hard to be an excellent candidate for marriage. There's only one problem - her health is failing and she's likely to die before she reaches full adulthood. With limited time and means, her only goal is to repay her family's kindness sin death by securing a good marriage in life. When fate throws her into the path of an assassin, desperation forces her to make a proposal for marriage of her own - which, to her shock, he accepts whole heartedly. While she may not be sincere, assassin Shinpei loves as passionately as she executes, and only time (ever-ticking) will tell if she can find a way to break the engagement without losing what remains of her life.
This opening was DELICIOUS with a healthy dash of unnerving and I am so locked in to whatever is going on here. There are a lot of manga out there that play on the unlikely marriage trope, or pair a noblewoman with a brooding or mysterious edgy overlord, and there's a bit of that here, too - tragic perfect daughter and assassin has probably been done before, but the WAY in which it's played so far is fascinating. Satoko feels pretty self-aware for being a favorite child and is giving things the old college try as her life unravels around her, which I will always find endearing. Shinpei is the embodiment of a wild card, and I can't wait to see what kind of tomfoolery he gets up to as he and Satoko attempt to make another man fall in love with her. I cannot overstate how fantastic the facial expressions are here and how Shinpei is several screws loose of a toolkit - I was so disturbed by his reactions to things while simultaneously finding him really endearing as a character, and I am so excited and terrified for the next installment. If you love weird marriage scenarios at all, give this book a try!! I will say that there are definitely adult themes here (including SA), so please read with caution!

This was so unhinged, I couldn't stop reading.
The thing is this whole series works based on the two leads, and boy are they fun. Satoko is a girl who's very sick, has a heart condition, but she is a noble. She is kidnapped and somehow saved by one of her kidnappers, Shinpei Goto. This fucking psycho assassin only protects her because she promises to marry him. Leading to some insane story beats, funny as hell moments, and brutal deaths all around.
I love the mix of genres here. I also love that Shinpei is the crazy one, a nice change of pace. It's really funny at times mostly due to Satoko being such a good character and relatable. I also loved the fights, cause they are vicious and bloody.
This was easily one of the most fun first volumes to a romance (is it tho? Romance horror?) I ever read. I'll be buying more as they come out. A 4 out of 5.
