While I like the illustrations - they do take up a rather classical art style - the story retells parts that we've already been told in Vicious. With that said, I do still think this story could largely be read on its own though it doesn't have a conclusion.

I wish I had longer to get to know the characters. They felt a little too rough to be any more than stereotypes and that impacted the story a bit.

Not a must read but a "It's nice" read.

  • We've got another entry in the Villains universe and I loved it!! I'm a big fan of Vicious/Vengeful, so I was excited to see a graphic novel set in the same universe. The story follows a teen girl named Charlotte Tills who survives a bush crash and becomes an EO in the process. With her new powers awakened she soon finds herself on the run, as organisations like EON hunt people like her and others like Eli also mean to get rid of her kind. It was interesting to follow a different EO, as we're used to seeing Victor's perspective.
  • Charlotte's power is seeing her and other's deaths in any reflection, a disturbing power, as it means she can see the cause of her own death - in this case: Eli Ever who's still hunting EOs. It was easy to sympathize with her, as she's still so young, but already cannot trust anyone, as spies lurk everywhere. I really liked seeing some new EOs and I'd love to read more of Charlotte's story! My edition had a 'To Be Continued' in the end, but I sadly haven't seen any announcement of a continuation 🥺

In this world death is not the end; individuals known as EO's gain superpowers after dying and coming back to life. We follow Charlotte as she grapples with her newfound powers and its repercussions.

I really enjoyed this! I haven't read either of the main books in the Villains series but this got me up to speed nicely and it didn't impact my enjoyment. I loved our protagonist Charlotte, she was really well developed. The art style wasn't my favourite, however it did grow on me the more I read.

As an extra note the bonus short story Warm Up was fantastic!
