This made me laugh so hard in some pages and in the next I'd be crying my eyes out. It was perfect.

one of my favourite books. this one never fails to make me cry.

This is in no way a bad book. I have friends that loved and liked it, and I trust their opinions. This book was an option to read over the summer, and if I had known, I would have chosen a different book. I knew this was a good book, and it had a fairly interesting storyline. A boy does a bad thing, then he has to care for an elderly man, and meanwhile he has a toughish family life and a female friend who is majorly friendzoning him. Sounds like another book I read and loved, The Schwa Was Here, by Neal Schusterman. And frankly, if you want a coming of age story line with a lot of adult characters, I would definitely recommend that book instead. And really, the reasons why I only gave this book two stars are contradictory. I gave it two instead of one because the plot is interesting, but two instead of three because the plot makes the book boring and formulaic. It's almost like a bad romantic comedy. Boy meets man, they don't get along at first, then they warm up, then tragedy, then they're closer together and shit. Aaaaaaand spoilers in one, two, three.....

THE OLD MAN DIES.
