This was a quick read and sweet story of sixteen-year old Alex, who has to do community service at a nursing home after a drunk driving incident involving a neighbor's garden gnome. He is assigned to crotchety Sol, who loves to insult others almost as much as he loves to play practical jokes on them. While their initial interactions make Alex want to run for cover, a bond forms between the two, and Alex begins to think of more than just finishing his "hard time."

This is my second Jordan Sonnenblick book, and this one actually has appearances from both Steven and Annette of "Drums, Girls, and Dangerous Pie." I preferred "Drums" slightly more, but "Notes from the Midnight Driver" was also very well done. Fans of Gary Schmidt, R.J. Palacio, or Fiona Woods should give Jordan Sonnenblick a try!

If you're a sarcastic person who loves the make witty comments but isn't really that type of person, this book is the one for you! I love this book and I mean absolutely loved it. It's relative to everything and it's very inspiring and thought-provoking. Truly can change the way a person perceives someone or about something and totally change their view point. This book left me with many thoughts and all-in-all it's a great read!

This book is unbelievably better than I thought. Whatever positive word of the mouth I write about it will not do justice as to how much this book is brilliantly made. I know that this will be a very humorous read and boy it was! This had me laughing like a mentally derailed patient from wherever asylum land.
I was not surprised by the ending, I actually saw it coming. But the build-up was so canny that my tear ducts forgot its past midnight and everybodys sleeping except for a brawling me. I can't even rad the words properly, I had to stop and wipe the tears away to continue.

I'm not going to say more. I'm going to make a review of this book. Not a mediocre whatever this is I'm doing right now.
