This is my easiest 5 stars of the year so far. This book made me cry and feel so deeply. The pacing was perfect, the writing style was beautiful, and the character development felt just right.

I really really really loved this book

Yikes, that was pretty depressing. Lots of triggers.

Sort of randomly decided to start this book and I was immediately drawn in by the specific voice and beautiful writing. This story so kindly and thoughtfully deals with trauma, abuse, and anxiety, and beautifully shows the importance of love and support in our lives.

I thought I wrote a review for this but I guess not?

I read this in July and still can't stop thinking about it. I rarely purchase books but am seriously considering adding this to my collection. I think I'm still chasing the high of an emotionally devastating yet utterly hopeful book that creates emotional shockwaves as you read it.

This is also charmingly Scottish; there's something about the writing from Scottish, Irish, or English authors that makes for an immersive and authentic reading experience.

Trigger warnings for rape, anxiety, depression, agoraphobia. The way Alexander writes Meredith, I definitely felt my anxiety and sense of loneliness ramp up while reading.
