Tade and Reagan met in their senior year of college. Each having their own secrets from their traumatic past.

Reagan had never dated and was very standoffish and sheltered. Tade on the other hand had the whole female student body vying for his attention.

It took some time and patience but Reagan came around to giving Tade a chance.

Tade is the perfect mmc. He has patience with Reagan. He always puts her feelings first and never asks anything of her that will push her past her comfort zone.

Spending quality time together they fall in love. I actually feel Tade fell first. But then the past raises its ugly head and decides to go for a repeat.

Read the book to see if this new couple can survive a dark traumatic past.

Check out the trigger warnings before reading.

I highly recommend this book. We all deserve a Tade in our lives.

I really enjoyed this book more than I expected. It's very dark and there are past and present events that connect.

Terri E. Laine connects the timelines well and throughout the story, we're passed between timelines. To start with it became confusing as the heroine was referring to her mother having a difficult past as well which resulted in her mother's actions towards her in the present but it started to make sense as more events were happening in the present timeline, and dots were being connected.

Both the heroine and the hero are hiding something and as the reader you're constantly trying to find out what that might be. There's demons that need to be settled and nightmares that come back into reality. I was addicted to this story and the end threw me for a tailspin but I will definitely be reading the next book.

Because of Him is a heary breaking story. It has many triggers such as child abduction, human trafficking, child abuse etc. Be careful.

Miss Laine set a tender and respectfull tone to address the issues on her book. I especially love the slow burn relationship between Reagen and Tade. They both lovely characters.

Overall, I enjoy the book.

“Yet I found myself lost on an island of need. Peering through a telescope. Searching for that one blinking light to let me know when a ship was approaching, she was that ship destined to save me or wreck me”

Tade is a bit of a playboy and had rules to not date and fall for someone but he had his sights set on Reagan from the moment he saw her. She pushes him away, has a past and is so mysterious.

I think this was a good book, it just didn't grip me like I wish it would. I suggest going in blind just please look into triggers. Tade was interesting at the start but he became a softie once seeing Reagan. I loved Reagan’s strength but I just felt sad and didn’t connect with her.
I feel a lot was going on in the plot with some unanswered questions I had that didn’t seem to go anywhere as I went along. I didn't feel the connection with these characters I think it’s due to the flashbacks in between chapters just making me angry and sad for this character. With saying that the flashbacks are graphic and dark so be very mindful going in.

I feel this book was well written but the execution didn’t grip me. The plot twists were good just saw the accidental pregnancy storyline coming from a mile away.

I didn't see this book coming! I went in blind and was pleasantly surprised that this book has a little sexy, a little sweet, a little suspense and a some excitement too! I love a book that has it all. The characters are both a little protective of their secrets & their hearts which made listening to them tear down each others wall even better. I also really liked the past and present scenes because you really get invested in the characters by knowing so much about them and the way it's written you spend most of the book wondering who's past your getting a glimpse at. Very good book and a first for me by this author but I will be adding her to my list for sure!

The narration was perfect! I love Erin Mallon so anything with her narrating gets extra point from me. She always hits all of the emotions and makes me feel like i'm there while the story is happening and Jason Clarke really did a great job being Tade to life!

I hate to give a book such a low rating.... I was expecting this book to be outstanding from reading the 5 star reviews but for me it was below average. There are VERY dark themes of sex trafficking and rape of a young girl but I have read other books with similar themes and if the book was written well I would have been ok with it. If it wasn't for the dark chapters in this book I would have become bored very fast and dnfed. I kept on reading because I wanted to know how it would end. I did not buy the fact that the heroine had been through the things in the past and actually thought it was someone else entirely until the end. I wasn't connected to the characters at all and it was all very instalove when they met. The ending was sweet but I fee like there needed to be more of an explaination. Maybe there will be a second book. It may be a case of its me and not the book but I just wasn't feeling it.

I've been so excited to read this book. After listening to Chasing Butterflies a couple weeks back, I couldn't wait to dive into another one of Terri's books. Though, this touches on some dark subjects and isn't for every one. I'm a big fan of dark books so I really enjoyed this one. Overall, I adored the story to pieces. I was getting so frustrated not knowing what was going to happen and most of everything wasn't cleared up until last couple chapters. Which ended up driving me crazy. I was right about what I thought would happen, but not confirming it til the end is what drove me bonkers.
I'm so excited to read more of Terri's work!!! LOVE!

Wow this was a bit of a shocker for me, the past parts completely through me off and I wasn't sure how it was gonna play out but how it did was unexpected for sure and completely through every single theory I had out the water the twists were so good and i didn't guess them which was brilliant!

I love Terries writing and this book was no different Reagan was such a likeable girl and Tades game changer I can't really say much regarding this book without giving spoilers which I will not do but if your looking for a angsty suspenseful read then this is the book for you.

A worthy well deserved 4 stars and I can't wait for Terries next book !!!
