This was a tricky one. As a stand alone novel, it was pretty good. But when I compare it to the first novel in the series, You, it isn't anywhere near the same level. There was something about You that made me feel so much more on edge and creeped out. Perhaps it was because it was written in second person....or the characters were more compelling and tolerable. Whatever it was, this one just wasn't as great (or believable).

I was very apprehensive going into this book, hearing how many people were disappointed. And maybe in some way I agree that You didn’t need a sequel, but I honestly very much enjoyed this book!!! It was so nice to be back in Joe’s head and him murdering people left and right. Caroline Kepnes does a great job flushing out the characters and make the story believable. The last 100 pages was a bliss! I couldn’t go to sleep until I finished the book, man it messed with me so badly!!! Can’t wait for the third book!! What a roller coaster!

OMG, I seriously had to stop several times and think about my own mental health when reading this book because I found myself truly rooting for Joe this time around. He might be my favorite "crazy stalker" person ever but I hope I never encounter anyone like him in real life. It is a true testament to Kepnes writing ability that she was able to make a psycho so likable. Hidden Bodies is truly worth a read, but make sure you read YOU first!!

This book was given to me free from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

You was an alright read for me. Nothing special, but I liked it enough to continue on with Hidden Bodies. Especially since the sequel was on NetGalley. You left us off with Joe Goldberg having just killed Guinevere Beck and beginning a new obsession with Amy Adam. We see Joe's new crazy Los Angeles life as he tracks Amy down. For me, Hidden Bodies wasn't any better or worse than You and I was left decently satisfied with the ending. The characters were a bit too wild for my taste and Joe's obsessive personality was chilling. Now please stop writing, Kepnes. I think a third book would be too much.

I listen to You on audible and decided to do the same thing for Hidden Bodies and that was the right move. The dead pan wit was executed perfectly because I laughed out loud several times. Doesn't know what it said about me to relate to a serial killer but I was rooting for Joe. Didn't know where this book was going but I enjoyed the evolution of Joe. He made mistakes, he overreacted, and grew as a person. The ending was inevitable but I will definitely be on board for any more books!

Much different than the Netflix series but still enjoyable. I think it could have been shorter and didn’t need all of the insanity that ensued but overall was an interesting read. I think I was intrigued to see where it was going since I’ve seen the show and the show does not follow the book much past book 1.

This sequel is just so unnecessary. Joe’s character completely derailed in this one and felt so inauthentically different than the first book. I was somewhat intrigued at times which is why it gets 2 stars but mostly I was bored and annoyed that it wasn’t nearly as good as the first!

Damn this book! What a rollercoaster. It is awesome! Tension on every page. What a fuck up guy Joe is. But not as a normal serial killer story I felt sad for Joe from time to time.

Even as I wat he’d the series first I was surprised the book was totally different. This version was way better and makes a lot more sense.

Definitely reading this again!
