Parts of this did manage to be a bit creepy but this book was way too long - there were so many long meandering sentences that didn't mean anything. The kids didn't sound like kids to me (they had the exact same vocabulary at 5 and 10) and the adults made unbelievable decisions. The villain's final "plot" is genuinely ridiculous.

At first this book made me incredibly furious. The adults in this book were nothing short of brainless. The last quarter of the book saved it for me and for once I actually thought it was a well written ending.
