It’s the first book that i’ve read which has the use of social media in it, the idea of it was performed excellently throughout the book as it told us the beginning of each plot twist. I cant wait to read more from this author.

A very modern, humorous, twisty tale that will make you laugh as much as it will make you wonder what in the world is going on?
I have to say, I love British humor and a sarcastic, self-deprecating narrator. So from the first the first few chapters I was immediately invested. Following the flat mates, that eerie small town and its special crow, and the visitor that changes it all was quite a ride.
Unfortunately, the bones of this book promised a bit more than what was actually inside. It was quite a slow pace with lots of repetition, the banter was fun at first but ended up feeling overdone, and by the 50-60% I needed more plot movement to really feel invested and wanting to read. I ended up really pushing myself through this.
With that being said, I did enjoy the end of this book and felt it was worth the read!
I would recommend reading when you want some humor mixed in with your thriller and lighter read that you don’t mind reading at all slower pace.
Thank you NetGalley and Gallery Books for the eARC in exchange for an honest review!

I just couldn’t get on board with the writing - a third of the way in and I don’t care about any of the characters enough to continue 😭

Kirby is someone who really doesn’t have her life sorted at all! She seems to always run away from the past but this time it has caught up with her and she has no other option but to return to Crowhurst, somewhere up until a year ago she was in a dead end job, flat sharing with a group of friends who are all in their late twenties.
The story flicks between past and present day. In the past we see as events unfold up to the death of Esme and in the present as Kirby tries to uncover who is behind the messages in the old group chat. It’s hard not to like Kirby. Whilst her career has been in journalism, apart from writing stories on potholes and road works, she has a great imagination. Her flatmates are all very different and I have to say I had a soft spot for Dylan. There is just something about a small town with a creepy past that had me enthralled and I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough.
Everyone in the Group Chat Dies was such a page-turner! It was highly entertaining and whilst humorous, it was also dark with the tension and suspense mounting constantly. I never saw who was behind the killings so it came as a big shock when all is revealed. This is the second book I have read by the author and I can’t wait for them to write more as I have enjoyed every minute of them. If you love to play the armchair detective and have fun whilst you are at it, this is the book for you!
