What a fucking let down. I really liked the formatting of it being a podcast transcript with interviews. I like odd and mixed ways to convey a story, like in Rules for Vanishing by Kate Alice Marshall. I appreciate the use of italics to emphasize who is speaking, whether a conversation is happening, and so on. It broke up the monotonous feeling of an endless skype chat transcript. They felt natural and decently paced.

The lack of conclusion to any supernatural plot was disappointing. Why include that? I felt it could have been tied into what happened with the dead female character well enough, but that's just me. The mention of social media is pretty accurate, at the time of publishing and my reading of it. Most inclusions of social media are fumbled misunderstood uses of the big scary internet.

If you read this book, skip that last chapter, the final 'youtube video transcript' one. It made me feel like I wasted the 1 and a half hour spent reading this book. I guess the rampant transmisogyny is in character, but it just felt like the book was breaking the fourth was and going 'wow, shyamalan plot twist! are you entertained??'. In a bad way, I mean. The author built up the entire plot only to go 'actually it was all wrong despite telling you it was true XD'. I really don't want to waste my time with other works from this author on the chance it's more of this type of plot twists.
