Overall I liked it. It does have it's flaws or I would have rated it higher. A lot of words are unexplained. A lot. A glossary at the beginning would help better than the maps. I tried googling some I was sure were real only to find nothing, so I just went along with what I could guess. I liked the fashion and all the enchanted clothing but couldn't picture some of it due to the unexplained words. There was a good amount of world building but I zoned out after it began to feel like homework. At the back there is a cheat sheet about the capitals and the rulers of all the kingdoms and I almost felt like there was going to be a test later. Tell me what words mean instead!!!
I like the main characters enough. Fox is annoyingly devoted to his one sister and acts a bit like her slave, which I guess can be attributed to the spell only later he apparently turns on her?? Also the love triangle can be seen from space and all along I was hoping it would turn into something else. The surprise reveal of who is her love is not a surprise and made me groan out loud. This story has so much imagination and possibility and it had to go to the oldest cliche?
That said, this book is the set up for a better one. This is the training montage, the origin story which teases an interesting plot and ends in a cliffhanger. I can handle the two year time jump between each chapter but I would rather read one at a time then be spoiled for a more interesting storyline.
I'm definitely going to read the next book, but I'm hoping some of the problems will be worked out

Just could not get into the book. Maybe the timing was wrong but for a 125 pages it felt like nothing really happened and I didn’t care at all about our characters. Will try at another time.

I couldn't finish this. I got to page 114 and couldn't keep going. I like the premise and the world but I didn't feel any connection to the characters and didn't enjoy the writing format.
