yea yea… you say YA book and I say this 29 year old gal loved the shit out of this book
The middle reminded me intensely of the Teahouse Fire. So much so that I wondered if I was reading the same book? But idk. This didn't really grab me the way I wanted it to.
I liked this book a lot! I thought the magic was interesting. I thought the world building was great and I thought the twist of who’s grave she was at was amazing. I loved the daeva and thought they were interesting creatures.

Great read for anyone looking for a short fantasy series. I was in a reading slump and was not disappointed by this series in my need for my reliable fantasy genre.
I really enjoyed how the book starts at the end of the series, then goes back to the beginning. Throughout the whole 3-part series this remains very consistent, and while some is given away in the later recount of history, it was quite enjoyable to follow through with the characters and figure out how things actually come to pass.
If you're unsure about a whole series, it can be very disappointing to start strong with a great first book only to lose the plot and the characters' personalities along the way, but I did not experience that with Chupeco's Bone Witch trilogy.
