Slow paced with unnecessary descriptions. I dont think the color of the clothes that some character was wearing needs to be given such painstaking detail. I get it, its a beautiful dress, but I dont need to know the little embellishments and the subtle hues in it. IT JUST A CLOTH LOL.

Dark fantasy, necromancy, revenge, shady politics - what more could a girl want? I admit, I was not thrilled a few chapters in. But once I realized this is not a story you power through in a day or two and took my time with diving into this world, I really enjoyed it.

Tea is just getting started. She is young (like 15?) in this book, which is easy to forget given her abilities. I didn’t mind the annoying teenage stuff that other readers have mentioned, as I hope it is all part of her character development and building up to what we caught glimpses of in the “forward flashes.”

Those hints at her future are why I’m eager to keep going with the series and learn what causes her to break from her brother and societal norms, especially after her reveal to the oracle.
