At first I was wary of the premise of this book. How do I feel about my 7-year-old daughter reading about *vampires*?!

Well, for an in-between book, this one is a winner!

It’s interesting and doesn’t talk about anything creepy. Being a vampire means you are awake at night, fly with bat wings, and enjoy red foods like tomatoes. Adorable.

I enjoyed reading Isadora’s experiences at Fairy School and Vampire School. It made perfect sense that she didn’t completely fit in.

The ending was satisfying and I look forward to reading the next book in the series.

So cute! Lucia enjoyed this *almost* as much as Franny k. Stein. Isadora's dad is a vampire and her mom is a fairy, which makes her half of both. She tries out vampire school and Fairy school but doesn't fit in either place. Where does she belong?!

This is the Half-fairy half-varmpire representation I truly needed for my “weird” soul as a kid. It could only be better if Isadora was NB.

As the resident spooky children's librarian at my branch, I am constantly on the lookout for books that feature vampires for younglings that don't include romance. Isadora Moon is such a sweet and relatable character for kids who feel like they don't quite fit in with their predetermined roles in life. This first book in the series is all about Isadora figuring out which school she should go to. She's in the unique position of being half vampire, half fairy.
So plot spoiler, she doesn't feel like she fits in at either vampire or fairy school.

Low key though I would love a backstory on how her parents met, since they seem to literally be awake at different times of the day. Very cute for the ages 5-8 crowd. It is definitely going on my recommended list.

After reading most of the rest of the series, Violet (age 4) and I finally went back and read the first one. Definitely a fun introduction to the series and we both enjoyed the imaginative descriptions of the fairy and vampire schools. Violet says her favorite part was, “I liked that she got to have a pet bat at vampire school.” This the perfect series of books to own and re-read with my Halloween and fairy-loving preschooler.

Read this for #middlegrademay. It's an adorable story about Isadora who is half fairy and half vampire. Her mom is a fairy. Her dad is a vampire. The art work in this book is adorable done in black, white and pink. Isadora has to decide which school to attend. Her choices are Fairy school or vampire school. She learns different things about herself while choosing the between the two schools.
