I knew this book had some bad rep. I obviously knew it was dark romance. My issue is the Q*non conspiracy issues this book is absolutely riddled with.
And this is a re-released, edited version? Did they edit out blood libel? Why does a smut book even have this in it to begin with?

I signed up for the dark romance, the stalker, the dub-con/r*pe, that’s all what I picked this book up for. And it did that well enough...

What in the hells is this plot? A super hot sexy hacker guy best in the world that saves women and children from tr*fficking but also…stalks/r*pes a woman and has a WEIRDLY PLACED DDLG fet!sh?

Every single second of this book spent on this weird politicians and upper class are Devil worshiping p*dophiles conspiracy that tries to paint Zade in a good light…WHY

Firstly, I signed up to read a book about a creepy stalker, don’t endear me to him! I don’t want a little anti-hero boy with a heart of gold, I want a repulsive b*stard!

Secondly, it isn’t even endearing. It’s…it’s f*ckin’ weird. Once the doll thing happened, I just started skipping entire pages that didn’t have smut because I was over it.
Why was the doll there. What did that serve.

I hated 9/10 of this book.
But I will be reading the next one, thank you

One of my new favorite books. The subject matter is definitely very dark and people should absolutely be aware of that before trying to read these books. At least for me, the subject matter wasn't enough to turn me off, and in reality, I truly loved both the story and the author's style overall. Carlton has a wonderful writing style that flows exceptionally well and still feels completely natural. I constantly found myself enthralled and reading for hours on end with ease. Addie, as a character, was a bit annoying at first but I got used to her personality over time and I loved Zade and Daya (Addie's best friend).

Very curious now to see how I'll handle the second book.

It was an unusual book for me to read and i’m not quite sure if dark romance is going to be a genre i’ll be reading anytime soon again (except for the following part of this book) but i enjoyed reading it. The plot and the characters (adeline not so much) were interesting to read and it did not get boring. I liked not only having the stalling as the plot, but also a murder mystery, even though i did not find the latter very thrilling. The TW should be taken very serious though, that is also one of the reasons i might not love this book as much as other readers did. I don’t love the lack of consens in (sexual) acts, nor do i enjoy reading sexual scenes over and over again, what i found somewhat exhausting to read. I also dislike constant swearing in books. Nontheless, i am excited for the second part!

Low key felt like a poorly written Wattpad book from 2012. Appreciated the trigger warnings, but the book writes rape culture off as kinks. Super insensitive masking as “edgy”, and pretty awkward writing.

i went in blind for this so i had no idea it was instalove at least from the mmc's side (i usually hate this) but i think there was enough push and pull in their relationship otherwise for it not to be the end of the world. i liked the prose a lot and i loved the setting of the book but i think the structuring could have been done a little better. i don't know if it's just me, but it feels like not enough happened for it to be 500+ pages long. i liked the characters for the most part, but something about zade calling her "little girl" (and himself "daddy") in a sexual context feels especially heinous considering his day job but also very out of character? from the way he was written outside of these moments it feels like the last thing he would ever incorporate into his sex life. in general though i did enjoy the read and the writing style was a welcome surprise.
