This was a very touching and heartfelt book. I don’t think that you could read this one and not feel some immense emotion. My heart went out to some of the characters, and I adored them. I really enjoyed the connection between the characters. However, I didn’t like how one of the storylines played out. While yes it felt realistic, I didn’t like it because it was based on miscommunication, and this is my least favorite trope. Had the characters simply listened to each other, they would have gained so much. In this case they would have gained a lifetime of togetherness, which is in itself heartbreaking. The fact that we can think so poorly of those we love the most, that they would turn their backs on us based on a simple misunderstanding makes my blood boil. However, at the heart of this story it is touching, it invoked strong emotions. I felt for the characters. They were so well written, and it was gorgeous and again, realistic. While I was not around for this point in history, I did take a class on the Vietnam War during college and this book reminded me of some of the stories I had heard, so it felt very well researched. I would highly recommend it but overlook the miscommunication and get lost in the story.

A powerful, multi-generational, multi-POV story of kindness, resiliency, fortitude & finding that home can be found in many things and many people. Between the 1960s & 1970s, you follow the Golden family (Grace, Tom, Katie & Molly), a Vietnam war veteran named Jack, an aunt & nephew who are recent Vietnamese immigrants who have suffered unimaginable loss as well as many sub-characters as their paths overlap, their lives intermingle & you see the many ways we all care for & save one another.

The interweaving of characters’ experiences was awesome. Some plot points were a bit too easy, others unresolved. There were a few minor proofreading issues that distracted me. Overall though, a sweet story.

Once again, Alyson Richman did not disappoint! Richman really knows how to weave a story, taking her readers along developing characters as well as their relationship to other charactersas as the whole picture develops. This was a wonderful read with not just 1 main story line. Richman takes her time developing each of the main characters storyline as well as eaving them together. She makes you eager to turn the page to find out either what happened in someone's past or what is about to happen. At the same time, Richman's writing is so wonderful that you want to savor every sentence on every page. Highly recommend.

Alyson Richman’s books are such a treat to read. I’ll never forget when I first discovered her books years ago, I bought her entire backlist and read it. My mom came to visit, devoured my copy of The Lost Wife, and then read her entire backlist, too. The Time Keepers is her newest novel.
About the book: “An unforgettable novel that captures the power of longing, loss, and love, The Time Keepers transports us from 1979 suburban New York to war-torn Vietnam, revealing that sometimes the most unexpected friendships can save us.”
There are threads of this beautiful story inspired by true events. I knew that going in, and my belief in the reality of this story never wavered. The Time Keepers is the story of Grace, and her husband, Tom, who owns a watch shop, as well as one of his employees, a Vietnam veteran. It’s also the story of Anh and Bao, two refugees from Vietnam.
After reading The Women earlier this year, and also reading a memoir set in Laos and Vietnam during the war, it was fascinating to read a story contemporary with the war, relaying its far reaching effects. It has its hard moments, but the characters bring lightness and so much hope. The ending brought moving tears, and I hugged my book.

I was really excited to start this one. The plot sounded phenomenal.
It was a really emotional novel but there are too many stories going on and its all surface and no depth. I needed more but it basically only scrached the surface of all the over complex stories and it was done really slowly.
It was such a busy book and considering how slow the pace was, the ending was so rushed! It was exasperating.
The ending was beautiful though so its a real shame that this book didn't do it for me.
