Absolutely loved. I'm seeing some valid critique of the writing in the reviews such as some plotlines that didn't serve the story well, other plotpoints that didn't get a chance to shine, or pacing throughout the different parts didn't seem quite equal. But that is very normal for a debut novel.
What I don't agree with are the 2-3.0 ratings simply because a character didn't behave the way you wish they would have. Mickey is the protagonist, but at times we aren't rooting for her, because she's an unreliable narrator! I believe that mirrors real life - we don't always make the right choices, we stumble, we are hypocritical, and often make things harder for ourselves! Those carefully curated characteristics aren't a reason to leave a poor review for a novel.
I would read anything Tembe Denton-Hurst puts out, because she is an incredibly talented debut author who can only go up from here.
