This is a truly delightful romance. Dahlia and London are fabulous and I rooted for them for beginning.
Overall, this was pleasant, sweet, and a wonderful escape.
Oh, and did I mention the cover works for me? Sweet! Treat yourself to this book!

this was SO cute. i love love love cooking shows and queer romance even more so. this was chefs kiss. dahlia was such a goofball but honestly such a strong and relatable character. i love her so much. london was super shy and lowkey, which made it so fun being inside their head. i loved the banter and chemistry between these two SO MUCH. their love was so effortless and i ate up every second. kinda sad that it’s over bc i want so much more of them.

Thank you NetGalley for providing me with an e-ARC and advanced audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

This was fun! I really loved the cooking show aspect—it brought me back to my days of exclusively watching Food Network. The romance was cute and I really appreciated the queer and nonbinary representation. However, I did feel like it dragged at points, so this took much longer for me to finish than usual. Regardless, this was still a great, lighthearted romance!

Dahlia Woodson and London Parker met on a reality cooking show called Chef’s Table. For Dahlia, it was a way to bounce back from recently getting divorced. Winning the grand prize would be wonderful because her bank account was nearly empty. London entered the competition on a dare from their sister. London was a bit concerned about the show as they had decided to be open on the show about being nonbinary. They hoped it wouldn’t become a thing on social media with people who wanted to cause problems for others different from themselves. Nonetheless, London had big plans for the prize money. It was a dream of theirs to open a cooking camp for LGBTQIA+ kids. Once the show started, Dahlia and London were at stations close to each other. Dahlia liked knowing that her new friend was right behind her. As they made it through the different challenges, London and Dahlia found themselves growing closer and closer.

This was the third book I read for the Trans Rights Readathon and it was enjoyable. I love watching Top Chef and the show they were on was similar. Both main characters were likable and worked well within the plot. The secondary characters were well written as well. I would have loved for the story to have gone a little further into London and Dahlia’s story after the show ended. It was a missed opportunity to me as I had fun reading their journey. I look forward to reading another book by Anita Kelly in the future.
