In this world, the Virilians make a deal with Earth to pay women to bear a child for them and can or can not be involved with the baby after birth.  If mated, the woman receives $50K.

Anna's brother has a rare form of cancer so she needs the money.  She is mated to Trak and at first is not interested in him, but then decides she'd like to try to have the baby.  It takes her a bit, but meanwhile they fall in love.

Anna was raised by a father who taught her to be a minor criminal, and Trak's people generally are traders and are okay with questionably immoral behavior, though they do require women to be treated well.  When Anna is kidnapped by another species, she saves herself and then saves Trak.

These books are all pretty similar, but I liked this one, this specific world, and the characters so I'll keep reading the series.

This was a quick alien romance that was surprisingly sweet. I knew nothing about the series other than it being called Virilian Mail Order Mates. The beginning of the book actually had me a little worried that this was going to be darker than I expected with the way the women were treated. This series is not like Regine Abel's marriage of convenience series where each pair is matched and given all the information about each other before they agree.

Trak is an experienced lover and a charmer. The language chip that makes him speak British English was a little silly, but his character grew on me with him not forcing anything with Anna and wanting her consent.
