Amazing concept, but a bit if lack lustre execution.

The writing style was at some points very pointless and stilted. He’d write something like, ”She walked in the house, took off her coat, took off her shoes, got a glass of water, sat down at her table. She looks at the table. She blinks. She breathes.” I understand trying to draw out some scenes for drama but most of the time it wasn’t done poetically or in a way that was useful to the story, it just seemed clunky.

Also I know that the story’s set in America, but do people really have grenade launchers lying about in their homes? Yikes

DID NOT FINISH: 63%

The first half was exciting but after
the girl got returned and we switched to the let’s take down the chain plot
the tone changed and I just didn’t like it. I also didn’t love the
cancer or heroine
subplots and I felt like the teen girl wasn’t written very well. No thirteen year old girl calls herself a “little girl”.

I wanna be as badass as Kylie

Boring like watching paint dry.

I had been wanting to stop reading the book for a while but I wanted to know the creator of the Chain. The reveal was bad, and who it ended up being was dumb.

Fun read!! Engaging, and quick-- it is a great summer book. Loved the premise and the pace.
