The callous disregard for animal life and welfare turned my stomach.   My rating reflects this major flaw in the book.   I don't care when the book was written, child and animal abuse should never be tolerated.

Another re-read of Anne of the Island--I'm going through the whole series again and really love this one! Anne's adventures at college are superb and then you have the ups and downs of her relationship with Gilbert--the Anne books are an endless delight!
