I actually REALLY enjoyed this one.
Demetrius is a brilliant character and to find out why he's been this sullen, awkward, offhand and secretive male is actually. ...extremely surprising.
This argonaut has not one but THREE secrets and the one he's trying desperately to avoid and has the most control in is the fact that Isadora is his soul mate. Hes mabaged to nake him hate her for decades - it was the only way to be sure nothung could ever happen between them, despite what he felt. At least he thinks that's the least of his troubles...
.....after another battle with daemons he is, once again, rescuing the princess and accidentally opens a portal to somewhere oh so much worse than where he came from.
we learn of his past here. Yet it's hard to believe that the in this case the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.
As a form of torture and manipulation Demetrius and Isadora are literally plonked onto a beach. Demetrius is first to wake. Isadora is unconscious with a broken leg which he first tries to fix, then tries to set about getting and making things they'll need - a shelter, tools, a ladder etc.
This is also a great book to watch the final change in Isadora as a princess due to ve queen. She has almost been 'coming out a coma' type status when it comes to her standing as queen. This shows the true beginnings of what shows who she really is.
Events on the island, which turns out to be Pandora, are clicked into place and cannot be stopped when they leave.
Demetrius tries to send the princess alone, knowing he'll be viewed as a traitor but somehow he's brought thru, beaten and sentenced to death by the Council....
even begging the king can't save him as the Council are now viewing him as too ill to make the right choice.
but Demetrius feels he has nothing to lose anyway....
....until the princess visits. ...
....until the argonauts visits. ...
this book could be the turning point. I'm really hoping the next one can carry on the pace!

I loved this story of Demetrius & Isadora. They both come into their own together and realize that sometimes, you have to put aside your pre-conceived notions to move forward.
This may be the best one yet of the series. Digs deeper into other characters. A good quick read!!!
Good book. I liked the characters a lot but especially liked watching Isadora come into her own. Nice character development. Good progress on the overall story arc.
This third book featured the “mean” guardian Demetrius, the one who relished every opportunity to torment Princess Isadora for reasons unbeknownst to all. In fact, his disrespect was so appalling in the last book when the King had ordered him to marry Isadora that he said he would rather be put to death.
After Isadora went missing with her hand maiden right before her binding ceremony to Zander, the guardians began looking for her. Demetrius was able to find her and rescue her from his mother, but not really since his mother banished them to the island of Pandora. Demetrius’ mother was hoping to find a way to get her son and Isadora to become involved so they can have a baby. She would use this infant and it’s power to reclaim her rightful place as an Argolean ruler.
I am really intrigued with this series because of it’s potential, not the execution. In fact, this story has more holes than the last one.
My 2.5 Major Issues:
1) Hera’s curse: Theron hated female humans—thus his mate Casey was a human. Zander---well, I don’t exact understand why Callia was his mate as I don’t know what he hated about her. But I know he hated an action that he thought she did. Demetrius hated pathetic, weaklings, thus why he seemed to hate Isadora.
But this novel implied that Demetrius was aware that Isadora was probably his mate for a really long time. So why did he continue to treat her so reprehensibly? He went out of his way to terrorize her, yet he has a shrine in his place. I don’t get it. If he suspected she was his “curse”, isn’t it inevitable that they will fall in love anyway? Also, why did it take so long for their feelings to kick it because Theron and Zander seemed attracted to their mates from the beginning?
2) Background check: I don’t know about being an Argonaut, but my job performs background and reference checks before an offer of employment is extended. How is it that no one knew anything about Demetrius’ lineage before they appointed him one of a handful of eternal guardians to protect humans and Argolean’s from the Daemons? In fact, they didn’t know he was part witch, only that he was of Jason’s line. How is it that Theron didn’t even know where Demetrius lived, when this is the guy whom you trust to save the world with you?
Minor Issue) Their government set up reminds me of the power struggle that ancient Rome had with the dictators always fighting with the Senate for control. The political scheming etc. Why didn’t Lucian face some kind of backlash for remaining quiet about his son’s involvement with Callia’s son and the deal with Atlanta. I need more answers and better answers. I am not getting them so far but I am not frustrated yet. I am still open.
Ultimately, I am giving this book a four because it makes me want to keep going and neglect the other books that I planned to read because I like Gryphon and Orpheus. So despite the issues, I am still invested in the story, that’s why I bumped it up from a 3.5star to 4-stars

I have to say I think that this series is getting better as it goes along. Tempted focuses on the Guardian Demetrius, his soul mate, and his secret. I liked the way Isadora finally came into her own, but Demetrius stole the show. One of my favorite type of characters is the brooding damaged male whose game is completely thrown off by a female. That is Demetrius all over. He is big, strong, dark, and cruel, but in the presence of little 'ol Isadora he's...well maybe not an awkward, blushing teenager, but definitely not himself. It makes me smile. The smex was pretty amped up too. There was no lack of steam here. I did get tired of the Robinson Cruso routine after a while. I thought the plot stalled for a little bit, but not long enough for me to consider dropping it or anything.
Quickie Book Review:
Tempted is the third installment of the Eternal Guardians. In the past couple of books, Demetrius has practically scared me more than any other guardian. He is icy and cold and very rough around the edges, but in this book, you see the true center of Demetrius and I was completely head over heels for Demetrius. There is a lot more to him than meets the eye. When Isadora gets kidnapped and she and Demetrius are thrown together in a place where they will have to rely on each other to survive, a desire flames between them. Demetrius has known for years that Isadora is his mate, but he doesn't feel worthy of her, so he shuts her out and tries to force her to hate him. But when her life is in danger, everything changes, and Isadora starts to see a man that cares but refuses to show it. Isadora shows her true colors and you see a inner strength that grows with each day, and I love her fighting spirit. There was so much more in this story than I expected, and it keeps your mind constantly overwhelmed and engaged till the very end. The suspense and thrills seem to never end and the ending was purely satisfying and you are left with the happy bliss feeling that you crave every time you read a good romance. And oh boy was this well done!! A intense, passionate, and exciting adventure packed with dangerous creatures, plot full of intrigue, a mystery to unlock and enough romance to send tingles all over!! CAPTIVATING!!

3.5 Stars
Avoidance, friction, and hate. A few of the feelings Isadora has for the dark hulking Argonaut. He has never let her get close and has done everything to keep her at a distance while feeding her animosity towards him. Can these two really be soul mates?
Demetrius has some dark secrets hiding in his skin. And he believes that darkness is all he will ever be. When beings more powerful than he thrown him and Isadora together he wants her to see that, if nothing else he is very persistent. Good thing Isadora doesn’t give in easily, at least anymore.
Isadora is the future Queen and she is finally acting like it. So when she finds herself stuck with the one Argonaut she would never want to be in the same room with it comes as a shock to realize there is more to him than meets the eye. For the first time in her life she feels protected and safe. He sees darkness and she sees his strength.
This is the third book in the Eternal Guardians series and is the best so far. If you have read the series from the start you are already attached to these characters and possibly been perplexed at the strong negative emotions between Demetrius and Isadora. So you finally get to see why and in the process get the most exciting book of the series. Naughton also hooks you in to Orpheus’s story and gives you a little teaser at the end of his book that will be coming out next.
