This book made me want to rise up and ROAR!!! So many great female role models. I enjoyed reading their stories of triumph but it also breaks my heart that they struggled. But only through struggle is there triumph?
All of the stories were good but my favorite was a precocious 7 year old who was obsessed with death and brought a cow eyeball to school. :)
My favorite line wasn’t from a contributor but from Sheryl Sandberg who challenges us: “What would you do if you weren’t afraid?” My answer: TRAVEL. Guess I need to book some flights :P
Recommended for everyone!

It was a good book, not quite what I was expecting. 3.5 stars. It was more of a coffee table book-definitely inspiring but generally more of a "you can do it!" good vibes feel. Quick read of lots of short stories of both famous people and everyday people you'd meet on the street.

Great nonfiction read and a must have for any middle school or high school classroom! The variety in in careers of the women in this book is vast, and sends a positive message while highlighting the common thread of sexism in the workplace and general fields of study/careers.

I’m not going to lie I initially bought this book because Victoria Aveyard was a part of it. However, I think everyone should read this book. This book made me cry and laugh and think all at the same time. It was an empowering rollercoaster but I am happy that I was able to go on it. And honestly it made me start looking at my experiences and my future in a different light.

Because I was a girl, I read this book. Because I was a girl, I related to too many stories in the book. Because I was a girl, I loved this book.

I needed this: finally, a book that solidified all the thoughts that constantly, aimlessly, bump around in my head. Some of the stories were simple, and others were pretty detailed, but they all hit their mark with the core message of the book: it's 2018 and it's high time we run out of all the "firsts" that women have yet to accomplish. We've had a first female prime minister, a first woman to run as a presidential candidate, a first woman to win an Academy Award for best director, etc.
I can't wait for the day when every woman has a multitude of female experts that that can mentor her despite the field, career or award she wants to target.

A collection of essays from many women and girls across the United States, who speak about their experience as a woman. Each speaks to an important issue impacting this gender, but also provides insight into the diverse landscape of being a woman in the US.

This was a great concept and several of the essays were well written. I appreciate that scientists, religious leaders, musicians and authors were all included in this collection. This book is perfect for tweens and teens.
