“Never pray to the gods that answer after dark” - they are neither kind nor merciful and you must be willing to pay the price. Estelle Magritte warned Adeline LaRue, but she forgets the warning or does not see the sun go down when she prayers for any help to be released from the arranged marriage.

A deal - it’s only words - “I want a chance to live - I want to be free”. Addie does not realize that the deal she made with the darkness will erase her from the world and she will not be able to leave a mark or be remembered.

Beautifully written and just as I requested, it broke my heart and shattered my soul. I absolutely loved the ending. Love Addie, and Henry still breaks my heart.

Not bad, but certainly not outstanding either.

i kept waiting and waiting for something that would pull me in deeper, and it just never came? this shouldn't be too surprising tho bc this is painfully eurocentric and just missing so much depth that was pre-set up by how intricate this plot could've been.

I would love to give this 7 stars to match the freckles on Addie's face.

This book wasn't like most books I read. No dragons, no battles, but psychological. It's was a real thinker. What would you do with unlimited time... But no one remembers you? You really feel for Addie, but you just know Luc is going to f*** with her until he wins.
I'd say she won.

This book might be one of my top 3 books ever. It's so good. You want to rot for this poor girl to make it. To get her dreams.

Everything about this book is damn near perfection.
