I really wanted to love this book, I started it from a recommendation from a friend who did!

But I just couldn’t get past the feeling that I would never be friends with this girl - though our political views align which she mentions throughout the book other than that I couldn’t get on board with her voice.

This was fun, and frank, while dealing with typically dark and difficult topics (e.g. sexual assault  poor mental health etc). The angle of total honesty and directing shame where it should be felt, e g. By perpetrators of sexual violence and agents of patriarchal nonsense is great and narrated in an engaging personal way. From a queer perspective there were points left to be desired, specifically around definitions of sex and the assumption and insistence of compulsory sexuality, but given the autobiographical nature of much of the content by a straight author, this needn't detract too much from enjoying the book.

Witty, feminist and so honest!! I inhaled it. As a self-proclaimed “book about shame”, I think there are relatable topics in this book for most people, especially women. It was so fun to read, with the heavier, emotional sections balancing nicely with light-hearted humour and heartwarming stories of friendship.

Ummmm, I don't wanna say I didn't enjoy it because there were plenty of moments that really resonated with me and also I laughed out loud at, but I duno... I just don't think I connected with it that much to be honest. I felt like I was being preached at for the whole book and I didn't really get the whole point about hating politics
