I loved it all except the romance

I really liked how it wasn't the typical Alien formula but that made it even more exciting to see how these people with their primitive tools were going to survive a planet of the most deadly killing machines

Parts of this book were really well written and interesting but the overall plot seemed to drag for me. I got to the 80% mark and felt as if I knew exactly what was going to happen and felt no desire to push on to the end, which is unusual for me. I won't give it a star score as I still haven't finished it, but for now I am done.

The “reveal” at the end is basically spoiled by the title. It’s a lot of book to go through pretending you don’t know that the demons are aliens.
Also if you’re going to play with refugee fear in the Alien context, it feels like it would be a natural leap to use chest bursters as stowaways on the refugees.
