Oh how I loved this book! Everything about it was so brilliantly written. Immediately I felt drawn into Beattie's story and as a consequence had the hardest time putting the book down. Beattie is the type of woman that other women aspire to be. She is definitely an inspiration to me. Emma I felt a little bit more of a disconnect with just because she was more selfish. But that's how her character was supposed to be viewed so I didn't mind reading from her perspective, especially since she changes so drastically in the end. This is definitely a must read if you love not only a good strong story line but a strong woman as well.

I read this book for a book club and I really enjoyed it. I liked the strength of the main characters Beattie and her granddaughter, Emma. It was easy to follow the story even though it went from the present to the past.

It was the type of book I thought I would like, but it just didn't interest me enough.

I thought this was a very engaging book. The writer skillfully describes the lives of two generations of women in the same family, and I was drawn in quickly.

It reminded me some of The Help with the same tone and conflicts.

It missed 5 stars only because there were no real surprises, no major twists that the reader couldn't see coming.

Really liked it.

Although in the beginning I didn’t like it nor did I understand what was happening, but at the end I fell completely in love with the story. Beattie is definitely my favourite!

Books that alternately tell both the present and history are not always well done, but this one is. I enjoyed learning the history of Wildflower Hill and seeing Beattie's courage and bravery to create her own life.
Even though her career ended, I am glad to see Emma had to return home and that she fell in love with what her grandmother created.
