Actually, if I could have a half star, then I'd probably put this in the 3.5 star range. It's a good book, but as I've recently started to notice about books I'm enjoying at a 4+ level? It hasn't meat. The writing is well done (I'd compare it to Kate Morton, who I also enjoyed)and the story has enough to keep you interested -- but by far the more interesting tale in the book is Beattie's, not Emma's. And what I found was that Emma's story seemed not quite rushed, but vacant. I wanted more connection to how she was finding out about her grandmother's past. /We/ get the past, but Emma seems to float along and then suddenly, there she is making the big find. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy that the discovery was made, the tension of the book demanded it, but I wish it hadn't seemed so very orchestrated. Would I read this again? Probably not. Would I recommend it to others? I already have.

Was slightly disappointed. Is compared to a Kaye Morton book, which I really enjoyed. Did not measure up. Still, was a nice read, just not as polished as I would have hoped.

I enjoyed Beattie's part of the story but Emma's was clunky and hollow.

I’m not a softie by any means but oh this book made me feel all the feels! I really connected with both characters Beattie and Emma and got so caught up in their stories that I had a hard time putting this one down. Even my hubby said ā€œ are you ok...are you crying READING!?ā€ Yeah shocker! Was so good and tugged at my heartstrings especially the ending! Loved and think I found a new favorite author to check out more of her work! 5 stars!

Why did it end THERE? Arg. Authors note says no sequel...but it really begs for one.

Even though I loved this book, the ending seemed a tad rushed for how the rest of the book went.

My mother gave me this book to read almost a year ago to date. She insisted that it was a book I'd love. I sat down two nights ago and started it, before long, I was 200 pages in and didn't want to set it down! Beattie's story is such an adventure. Happiness, heartbreak, determination. It was fun to read on as her granddaughter journeyed to Wildflower Hill and inevitably connected history to present with a happy and heartwarming twist at the end
