Ugh. I wanted to like this book. The premise sounds something right up my alley, but unfortunately this just missed the mark. It was much more literary fiction than I would have expected. It was just jumping back and forth between characters, and I had a hard time investing any of myself into these characters. Gibraltar and (Ugh I don't even remember the name of the woman), had a child that died in the first couple of chapters, and I still did not care about what would happen to them throughout. All of the sudden, I was 80% of the way through the book and was invested for the last little bit.
Graphic: Child death
Moderate: Racism and Classism
