Alisha has worked hard to become an elite member of the Lifeline rescue team. She was raised in high society so becoming a climber, a member of the team, was hard work but she's found her passion. When family begins to pressure her to leave the team to come back to "real work" she realizes that she is where she needs to be. Devon has always enjoyed working with Alisha, especially since she drives him to be better. He can't deny his attraction and after a particularly hairy rescue, spending more time together means that he has a harder time hiding that attraction. Alisha doesn't mind having a little fun as long as it doesn't affect their working relationship. When accidents and close calls mean they are spending more time together their attraction turns in to something more. But with someone from Alisha's past causing problems can they find a balance between their feelings and protecting the team? Fun, sexy, read!

Hadn't expected to enjoy this book as much as I did. Loved Alisha, LOVED Devon. I thought that the interactions with the team were great, Devon's and Marcus's particularly so. Also really liked the way the team came together both while on the job and not, not to mention that
Spoiler it was the women who came to the rescue in the end! And that wasn't an issue for anyone.

Can't wait to read #3.

Oh my goodness! Vivian totally blew me away with this book! I was completely glued to the story. The book was very well-written, fast-paced, and action-packed and a whole bunch of other hyphenated words! I can’t tell you how many times I was on the edge of my seat just dying to know what happens next!

I love how Alisha and Devon are kindred spirits and the chemistry between them is off the charts. I love that Vivian creates strong female characters with courage and a no-nonsense attitude that I admire. There was so much going on in this book; corruption, sabotage, exciting rescues, sexy search and rescue workers and so, so much more! Even though I didn’t read the first book in the series, I wasn’t lost at all so this can easily be read as a standalone.

I’ve been a Vivian Arend fan for a while now and as I read this book, it amazed me to see how her writing style has developed over the years. She is a very talented writer and if you haven’t checked her out, you should!

High Passion, Adrenaline Search & Rescue #2, by Vivian Arend
Grade: C +

“Well, in light of the fucking and what all that’s going on, I suppose we can use the dirty, dirty titles of boyfriend and girlfriend.”

“We need to confirm you’re not afraid of showers when they contain sexually excited me with men with an urgent need to ravish you.”

Alisha Bailey loves her job as a member of Lifeline, an elite search and rescue team and wants nothing more than to live her life her tiny Canadian town and help people and not deal with her wealthy family and their expectations. Because of her background Alisha has always kept her team members at arms length especially Devon Leblanc. After an unexpected event out on a rescue Devon finally starts to chip away at some of Alisha’s walls and soon they are finally giving in to their sexual attraction. Not everyone is happy these two finally got together and when accidents start happening no one is safe.

Devon Leblanc has fought his sexual attraction to Alisha Bailey for years and years so when she finally gives a little he takes his chance. Devon is shocked at not only the chemistry they have but how much he likes her and wants her around all the time. When a person from Alisha’s past comes back into her life, Devon is determined to fight for her and will do everything in his power to keep her safe and in his arms forever.

I loved the first half of this book and I actually couldn’t put it down but the second half of the book was a different story. I found myself bored and eagerly anticipating for the book to end. Where I loved Devon and Alisha at first they started to get on my nerves and things got dragged out for way too long. I found myself very disappointed since the book started off so wonderfully. The first half is very funny (I found myself laughing out loud) where the ending is much more serious and dark (with a little predictability thrown in).

This book is the second in a series but I had no problem jumping right in and getting a good feel for Devon, Alisha and the rest of the Lifeline team. Devon and Alisha have some smoking hot chemistry but their banter made the book for me along with some very steamy sex scenes. Like I mentioned before I liked these two but I found the book to be a little predictable and too dark. I felt that some of it could have been shorter just to speed things along and maybe my mind wouldn’t have wandered so much. I’m not sure if I’m going to continue with this series and mostly likely it will depend on whose book is up next and what the premise is.

This series has been such a disappointment to me. The premise of the series is a great one, a mountain search and rescue organization, but instead of an interesting romantic suspense, the stories just deteriorate into bad soap opera. Just like the first book in the series, the sex scenes were sensual and erotic, but the rest of the story just didn't hold together. The villain, Vincent, was ridiculous as was most of the suspense in the story. Instead of romantic suspense, this series would have been much better as a contemporary romance set in search and rescue organization. The attempts to add suspense to these stories were not successful.
