Great book but surprised that this was the way Scott Westerfeld decided to end the series.
An ending to this set. So many questions. A few unanswered about Rafia and Diego.... Will Frey find peace?
This series got increasingly better with each book with Mirrors Edge being my very favorite.
Because of that, I thought this book would be the best of them all with 5 golden stars.
Unfortunately, that was not the case.
While I was internally cartwheeling to see Tally again, I was disappointed. The way she was portrayed as a harsh and volatile character goes in contradiction to many of her character traits from the Uglies series and put a bad taste in my mouth up to the point where I started to dislike her a lot.
Speaking of dislike: I hated how this book introduced so many different plot points, completely ignored them and then wrote a half hearted last chapter that left me with even MORE questions than when I began.
As for things I did like, the audiobook narration was amazing and even though the situation between Frey and Col sucked (no spoilers) I didn’t really ever like the romance between them anyways and what happened made her grow a lot as a person.
Overall, it was cool to see the Uglies world continue but I just wish this last book had been done a bit differently.
