This was such a joy to read and made me feel so warm and fuzzy! Reading it after the film made me realise that they're quite different to each other, but the book just feels like it's Kiki and Jiji going on random adventures and I love that! Serious lack of Tombo though.
I think I’m comparing it too much to A) the movie, and B) non-children‘s books. It’s just missing something for me, I don’t know. It felt more like an anthology than a story with a beginning, middle and end, which isn’t my thing. It’s a cute story and I love the magic, the setting, the characters, but the structure not so much.

As with Howl’s Moving Castle, I enjoyed the film adaptation of "Kiki's Delivery Service" more than the original book.

I love the film adaptation of this so am happy to have finally read the book! This was just as wholesome and magical as I was expecting. It's a children's book but still thoroughly enjoyable as an adult.
