Excellent thriller. Kept me turning the pages. Nap is a likable character in spite of his flaws. He has a good heart and too much curiosity for his own good. He gets answers to his questions but at what price?

I really liked this thriller. The plot twist was surprising and well brought.

Nap Dumas is haunted by the mysterious death of his twin brother and his girlfriend 15 years ago.
Now he is a police officer and he sees the past resurface when their childhood friend is murdered. At the crime scene, he discovers the fingerprints of Maura, his teenage love who went missing. This raises suspicions and troubling questions.

The book reads itself easily and everything unravels in the last few pages.

When Harlan Coben is good, he is very, very good. His last couple of efforts haven't been that good, but with this book he is back to excellent mystery writing.

1. There is the quasi-rebellious protagonist. I think this is what I love most about Mr. Coben's lead characters. They're never quite satisfied with the world the way it is; they are a little mouthy; they are a little rebellious; and always somewhat anti-authority. Indeed, the first chapter we discover that this lead character is not just treading on the edge of being a vigilante, he has gone right over the edge.

2. There is the mystery that doesn't wrap up until the very last pages. Just when you think you've got the entire mystery figured out, Mr. Coben throws in another little twist that you hadn't really expected.

3. There is the odd social message. The lead character can't resist passing random strangers who are smoking and asking them not to smoke. He knows this is a rather hopeless crusade, but feels so strongly about it that he can't help himself. It left me wondering if Mr. Coben does/used to smoke, or if he knows someone who smokes who passed away or got cancer. It's a quirky bit of the book that I like.

I read this in two days, which is standard for a Harlan Coben book when he is "on." He is "on" for this book.

I’ve read a few other books by this same author and didn’t love them, but I thought this was solid.

I enjoyed reading this book. It was not too taxing on the brain, didn't require a lot of thought and the whole mystery of the old missile site kept me turning pages. I liked the characters for the most part and I was eager to find out what was happening.
While not the best Harlan Coben book I've read, it wasn't the worst either. A good way to pass the time and I would recommend it.

"With unmatched suspense and emotional insight, this novel explores the big secrets and little lies that can destroy a relationship, a family, and even a town in this powerful thriller."

Can this small town cop find out why his brother died 15 years ago? What about his own girlfriend who disappeared the same night as his brother's death? Will he want to know the answers?

This page turner will keep you wondering and wanting more....and definitely wanting answers!

I couldn't put this book down!!!

This is a tough one for me -- I liked the book overall - I've been a big Harlen Coben fan, but I feel like there is very good writing, and then there are paragraphs of cliches that make me wonder what author I'm actually reading.
