Ugh I found this so boring, I couldn't care about it which was a bummer bc I liked The Gravity of Us. I do love the audio book narrator though, they did great with the accents.

This book really hits home. Having grown up in a small town and learning to find my tribe, this book really resonated with me. I currently suffer from anxiety so the moments in this book felt very surreal to me. I appreciate the way it played out. Phil Stamper writes good books, I enjoyed this one.

DNF: 50%

I listened to an audiobook version of this book. The voice actor (one of my favorites!) is acting his HEART out of this book. But unfortunately I just don’t vibe with it. I like the romantic parts but its heavily hinting towards the MC getting his heart broken and well… I don’t want the only strong point of this book to end up with a heart break. I’m not really vibing with the music aspect of the book or the anxiety/implied ED aspect of the book either. Maybe I’ll come back to it one day. Maybe I won’t. Either way?

1.5/5 stars

Thanks for trying Phil! Maybe next time

"You don’t have to be friends with everyone, and you don’t have to hold on to friends who aren’t great for you."

This thought process is definitely one that I embrace in my own life. It's nice to see it spelled out for all to see.

I really enjoyed this book, but didn't expect quite so many heavy topics dropped in all at once. It was definitely worth the read, though I think a content warning wouldn't be amiss as it was such a hard issue and I don't think it was addressed well (for those of us in the audience, not for the characters) in the book.

DNF at 10%: it's not my type of book.

I can feel (I didn't read that much that's why I said "I can feel" instead of "I think") this is a book where the main problem/plot is his sexuality: I don't enjoy this kind of books. If that is your thing, you probably like this book.
I understand in some place of USA can be a big issue in someone life because they have a really conservative/religious states, but everywhere is normal (at least in the Western Countries). I prefer when they include a couple M/M or F/F but without playing any attention to that because that shows how normal it is.

The main character: I didn't get it, maybe the author wanted to make fun of the "stereotypes of Americans". I think that's why he's like that🤔 I'm gonna try with his other book "The Gravity of Us" because looks more like a sci-fi story.

I won't ranking because it isn't fair, I didn't finish the book.

#Romace/MxM/contemporary.
#UK/USA.
#Insta-love/insta-attraction.
#Many pop culture on the book.

Marty arrives in London with nothing but his oboe and savings from his summer job. He is looking forward to starting a new life where he can explore his sexuality and finally feel more like himself. From the outside, Marty's life soon looks like the ultimate fantasy but it is all a façade to hide Marty's real problems.
Will he ever find a place he can call home?

This was a novel featuring LGBT+ themes and it was a coming of age story about a teenager finding his place in the world. Took me a while to finish this one, didn't completely win me over but it had a brilliant writing style.

A truly heartfelt stories about the often harsh realities of coming out, finding yourself, and building your forever family.
