In absolute tears rn
"her soul is like chiffon, with plenty of tattered rips and tears. The fabric of our souls is thin and worn. We must be gentle and love tirelessly.”

OH COME ON! I know I wasn’t reading this book to experience a beautiful peace of literature but this just felt like the author walked down a popular novel ingredient isle and threw everything in her basket that would potentially make a good story.

✅ love triangle

✅ murder mystery

✅ sharing one room

✅ bad guy gone good

✅ best friend sacrifice

✅ heart transplant (oh come on…)

✅ miraculous survival

The writing was so incredibly messy and cliche. On the first couple of pages this guy is the worst dark, sadist soul out there which you don’t understand shit of. Then suddenly after two nights of fantastic sex he turns into this guy who basically acts like all girls think they want their boyfriend to act and says ‘all the right things’ - but in truth it just wanted to make me puke.

Of course the two main characters are incredible musicians. Of course the girl who never had one single friend in her live, suddenly finds herself with two hot boys who both think she’s their soulmate. And of course there’s some sort of murder mystery that was unsolved for years but our protagonist solved in a blink of an eye.

The scene where the main character talks about ‘ripping out her IUD and making her swell with child’ and the one where they go into the bookstore, happen to both have pumpkin matcha Latte or whatever cliche drink as their favourite and pick out books for each other, will unfortunately live rent free in my head for the rest of my life.

One extra star though, cause no matter how bad it was - I still wanted to know how it ended.

This book is so good. I started reading it for spooky season based off a booktok rec expecting something completely different. I was pleasantly surprised. And the plot twist 🤯.

I fully expected Liam to die at the end and for him and Wynn to go into the light together while Lanston stayed paralyzed. R.I.P Lanston 💔

That was sad as hell, and I loved it. Sometimes you need a book to make you cry, so many books are so happy (don’t be alarmed, this one does have a happy ending), but sometimes you need something that feels a little more real but not quite reality. I loved and enjoyed this book more than I was expecting to, I will 100% be looking into more of this Authors works.
