I honestly thought I was going to enjoy this because it sounded really emotional. Unfortunately, I just couldn’t connect with the characters at all because they felt a little immature to me. And the ending just felt so random. The only character I actually liked was Lanston, and well... we know what happened to him.

What even was this book? Like it wasn’t bad but it seemed like it was trying to be four books at once. It was a thriller, a murder mystery, a dark romance, and also a drama. In addition this author clearly didn’t do research into mental institutions and excuses away the inconsistency with telling us that this institution is “unconventional” but never explains how or why.

This f’ing book! (In a good way.) ALL the feels!!!
SIX STARS if I could!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I kinda went into this blindly, only skimming over the back of the book before starting it. I. Was. Hooked. I never take notes, but I was writing my feelings as I read…or well, I’d write whatever I yelled out at the end of the chapters. 😂 There were a few times I almost threw the book across the room in the end.

It’s was a happy ending, but damnit Lanston. Sigh.
Liam and Wynn…Such opposites, but not really. Blaming themselves for everything.
I think Yelina really just wanted to be included.

I love growing moonflowers, and have planted some again. I’ll look at them a bit differently this year.

I don’t usually write reviews, but I felt I had to write something for this one. 🖤🩶🤍🩶🖤

I don’t know what to read next.

This book was so hearbreaking. I like the representation of depression through Liam and Wrynn and how the they both contrasted each other evidiently. The friendship amonst Liam, Wrynn, and Lanston was also very refreshing in seeing how they brought each other from the edge.
I do wish we could have went a little more in depth in deepening their friendships/relationships because it seemed like they all of sudden started loving each other. We find out Liam's brother, Crosby, was his previous roomate and was responsible for the missing people and fire eventually. He went insane and wanted revenge on Liam for  unintentionally causing the accident that killed their older brother. When Liam ends up cornering him, Liam and Wrynn go back to save him. All three get shot, Crosby gets killed, and Lanston did not make it. It was so devestating to read how he sacraficed himself for Liam and Wrynn to live by stopping her bleeding the whole time and finding them help. Wrynn has a bad heart, so Lanston's last request was for her to have his. They end up building another institution in honor of the previous one.
I might have to get this quote tattooed, "The Fabric of our Souls is thin and worn. We must be gentle and love tiressly."
Also, I really wish we got to not more about Wrynns story and why she struggled to play piano again/ the relationship with her mother. They hinted that it was not very good, but we never got the entire story.

After I finished I sat there and started at the wall, crying. Then I whispered: "This book is beautiful" such a journey.
