Phew! Book 4...
This was one of those books that I didn't want to finish because I didn't want to leave this story or this world. While I feel like there were a few minor issues with this book overall, I really enjoyed it!
We see a lot of character changes/growth from Knox in this book. Yes, I felt like his changes were a little quick, like maybe there just wasn't enough story to support his change, but then again, I feel like we all knew it was coming, so it wasn't a surprise. Like Knox is endgame so it has to resolve itself for a HEA right? I did like though how Aria didn't just fall into his arms. She's still very skeptical and I appreciated that.
There were more grammer/spelling/phrasing issues again, but I feel like at this point, it just comes with the territory of these books so I try not to let it bother me.
Needless to say, I'm stoked for book 5, but is is book 5 the last book?! I hope it wraps everything up, but I'm not sure it can... I guess we'll see!

Loved the book, this one was probably the best one of the whole series. It is well written and the story line is great. My only complaint is that I felt that the ending seemed like the author just stopped writing. Like when I turned the page and that was just the end It was kind of odd.
This book had me super hooked in the beginning but then nothing really happened. It kept me interested but I reached a point where I was like nothing is happening that actually matters. It's just a bunch of random battles and traveling.
I wish the author gave more insight into the characters reasoning behind what they're doing. I don't really understand how the grid system is working for Hecate, or what Hecat's end goal is. Maybe she wants to be the queen? But she's willing to destroy almost everything to get it?
Also Knox wasn't killing all witches, just the bad ones. Which is exactly what Aria wanted him to do the entire time so why were they ever enemies to begin with? And what does Knox want now? This book he kind of is just wanders around doing a whole lot of nothing. All the power and bad-assery of the other books kind of floundered a bit. He's always boasting of his power over the council but is still rolling over and doing everything they say to do. It's like he's lost his purpose and decided he's just going to lust after Aria for his enter job.
Everyone in this book suffered from a whole lot of boasting without a ton of follow up. Long ass monologues about how they are so great and good or this is so terrible and bad, with nothing really to back it up. Knox is always talking about how smart and amazing Aria is with very little she does actually proves that.
I also was super annoyed how Ember is hardly ever there when she is needed. She actually hardly appeared in the book at all. I guess she just decides to keep quiet for like 90% of her existence?
I can't stand how quickly Aria moves on from things. She has the most atrocious monstrosities happen to her and within a couple pages she's over it. She did have a couple moments of grief over her twins but it wasn't enough. I mean she miscarries and literally the next day she's up fighting again. It makes me like her less because she is pretty much dead inside.
I also wish Aria would come up with some back up plans so she doesn't become this horrible monster she keeps seeing herself being in the future. It's like it doesn't even bother her that she could really be the one to end the world. She's like, huh interesting and just moves on!! I would be telling everyone I love about a future where I might be a monster and please please help me stay a good person!
I am very invested in the characters and the storyline is mostly holding my attention, I just don't feel like there needed to be this many books! This could've easily been a trilogy!
**Small Summary Because I Have The Memory of a Goldfish**
Aria gives birth to twin girls who she loses at 5 months. She has a host of witches and babies she’s protecting in a keep that was overrun by demons apparently. I believe it’s in Knox’s territory. Knox and Aria finally finally have a come together. The did the deed and now Aria is possibly pregnant, which is great. Knox seems like he’s finally in love with Aria and proclaims he will have her back. Brander is currently the stand-in King and is set to marry Aria's sister, I think Sabine? Aurora says they need to get rid of Aria or she will kill everything. Aria manages to trap Hecate in her human form so she can't switch bodies. Aria now has water, lightning, and wind magic. The book ends with Aria going through a bunch of crazy tests and ending in the Kingdom of Fire with her father, Aden, and Esme.

Dual POV, we get to see Knox’s personality so much more. I think this was my favorite book of the series so far. Hutchins did a great job connecting loose ends while also creating some plot twists that completely altered how you saw things.

Out of all the books so far, this one was the best. This one gives me some hope that the rest of the series isn't going to be awful. There is still a lot I hated about the book. Again, there is a lot of repetition. That's the hardest part for me. I absolutely hate how the same scenario and sentences are repeated over and over. Had those been cut out, it would have been 200 pages shorter.
"I’d become the queen the world didn’t know it needed. If they thought they could hunt me down and end my life, I’d show them what broken things could do when cornered."
"You were born to lead, and you know it as deeply as I do. You’re not the queen of nothing and no one. I believe you are the queen of everyone, even without adding my title to your name. You’re the queen of chaos, and I suspect you’re the one who’ll save us all, Aria.”
Now, my love for Aria has been at the forefront of the reason why I even continued this series. And this one? She finally shows her fangs. She grew from book 1 to book 2 and even in book 4. But this one, she grew even more. She spread her wings and showed her true fire. God, I absolutely love her!!
There were a lot of revelations in this one. There are so many betrayals as well. It was a book filled with so much going on, and honestly, I loved it. Arias father was not a surprise. I knew she was special, but her mother, oh God, poor Aria. She really has suffered.
"You both are empty, pathetic creatures who live in the past and can not be bothered to see the future. At least you won’t need your ghosts to rule you anymore because now the council and their vote will dictate your life. Maybe it already is, though. They voted me out of our marriage, and you allowed it to happen. They voted to put me down like the rabid bitch my mother says I am, and you let them do that, too.”
Again, I'm not a fan of Knox. I still hate him, but I'm starting to understand him a bit. He didn't really grow in this one. He's still a pathetic, arrogant, piece of crap, but he got his head out of his ass a bit. Not nearly where I feel he deserves Aria. But I do feel for what Hecate did to him and his family. It's crappy.
I definitely will read book 5. I truly hope the next book will be better than this one and continue the good parts that this book brought about. I have so much love for the plot line in this. There are a lot of characters that I love. And one I still really hate, but the story is good and complex in areas. I'm looking forward to seeing what Aria is going to do, especially after all the loses and betrayals.

Graphic: Child death, Gore, Miscarriage, Torture
Holy shit she did it again!! I’m sitting here in a damn book hangover, not knowing what to do with myself, because the evil genius Amelia managed to write yet another fantastically superior, incredible novel!! I’m so in awe and have far too many emotions and may end up hating Amelia for that abrupt ending
