spectacular trilogy. i have not had as much fun with a fantasy trilogy in a while. lada in the end especially made me feel so many unexpected emotions and had me crying by the end of it all. there's just so many positive things i could go on and on saying about this series, from the positive portrayal of Islam and combining it with being gay, as well as the super strong characters of radu and lada. this was perfect for me, in every sense of the word. the conclusion was so perfect and how it all came to be was executed masterfully. kiersten white, i am in absolute awe. i need more series like this!

Not Radu and Cyprian waiting until marriage to have sex as a gay couple...

“She was a dragon.
She was a prince.
She was a woman.
It was the last that scared them most of all.”

It's been days since I read Bright We Burn and I'm still thinking about it. This might be one of the best series I've ever read. There's blood, war, politics, betrayal, friendships, enemies, love, death and destruction.

Radu is one of my favourite characters and I'm so in awe of his character development. He isn't the same character that he was in And I Darken, but his character progression is so natural. I love his characterisation and character arc. I just wanted him to live happily with his family and on a related note, Nazira is an amazing character.
SpoilerI'm so glad that he closed the unrequited love chapter of life because he deserved so much better than manipulative Mehmed.

Lada is extremely complex. There are moments where I hated her and moments where I loved her, but she's bloody, brutal and brilliant. She's an antihero whose actions can be downright villainous at times, but she's surprisingly still sympathetic, human and vulnerable.

I love Radu and Lada's sibling dynamics. They are on opposite sides and there's so much mixed feelings between them, but they can't ignore that the same blood runs through their veins. It's interesting to witness them also recognizing that the same circumstances made different people out of them.

After three books, I still don't get what the world sees in Mehmed and I'm so thankful that he seems like a side character. I don't like Mehmed's dynamics with Lada and Radu, but the hold they have over each other is so intriguing. I never liked the relationship dynamics between Lada and Mehmed, but I could understand its impact on the plot. The shift of their relationship, to something a lot more messy and toxic, in Bright We Burn is more fitting for their characters.

Bright We Burn might have one of the best series endings I have ever read. It's interesting because the resolution could have happened at an earlier stage, but if it had happened any earlier, it would have felt unnatural because the characters weren't at that point yet. It certainly shows how character-driven this series is as well as how the characters are their own worst enemies. I had no clue how the author was going to end this series and I'm so satisfied.

I love this book, with its brutality and dark aesthetics and its (brief) moments of ironic humour and levity. I love the themes that are dealt with and the manner in which they are tackled. I love the characters and their stories as well as the writing and the conclusion. Definitely one of the best series I've ever read
“A heart did not have to be stone to be strong.”

This was a satisfying end to the series!! Although I felt like it was just a bit anticlimactic, it was satisfying nonetheless.
I was so sad for the loss of some of my favorite characters and I do have my qualms due to Mehmed and Radu's love story being changed. But in the end, things worked out and I feel like if it had gone any other way, the book would just drag on too long, with new conflicts arising. Besides all that, this series was actually awesome and I've never really felt this many emotions as I did while reading Lada and Radu's journey. It was interesting and sad to see how Lada, Mehmed, and Radu all have grown and how their dynamics have changed from 3 childhood friends who relied on each other to inevitable rivals.
I'm also very very happy Radu got a happy ending because he DESERVED.

What an epic trilogy! Bright We Burn delivers a powerful, blood-soaked conclusion to a series that completely swept me away. Kiersten White’s fierce, complex characters and vivid storytelling made Lada’s brutal quest for power feel so real, I now find myself looking up at the sky whenever I go outside—half-expecting to see dragons. That’s how deeply this world pulled me in. A brutal, brilliant finale to a truly unforgettable saga.

This series is really some top-tier stuff. I haven't hurt for characters like this in so long. Kiersten White why did you do this to me. im cryin

I can't believe this series is over I am CRUSHED

What a wrap up to a great series based on Vlad Dracul. These books were amazing, and I'm already excited to re-read them.

Oh. My. Word. I am sobbing. I am revived. I have no idea how these books kept getting better and better but my lord. This book was phenomenal. I am so in love with this series and it is absolutely one of my favorites. The politics and characters destroy me. Also radu and lada. Everything.
